Youth and Young Adult Ministry

About Us

From 2024 to 2025, the Province of Our Lady of Guadalupe hosted a Franciscan Provincial Synod that brought together the voices of friars, sisters ministry partners and laypeople to help shape the province’s future. At the culminating event in January 2025, the Synod identified eight potential ministerial priorities that were adopted by the Provincial Council.

In Priority #3, the friars committed to “listening to and accompanying young adults.” In support of this mission, the Provincial Council established the Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry, embarking on Spirited moment to build a sustainable, Franciscan ecosystem for youth and young adults.

Mission

To form missionary disciples of Jesus Christ among youth and young adults by cultivating authentic Franciscan community, intentional discipleship, leadership formation, service, and a culture of vocation connected to the Province of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Vision Statement

We envision a Franciscan ecosystem of youth and young adults committed to Franciscan values and contributing their talents to strengthen the Franciscan way of life across the U.S.

Foundational Goals

The strategic response is not to create more programs, but to build a sustainable pastoral ecosystem utilizing these five foundational goals under a unified collaborative provincial vision:

  • Integrative community

  • Intentional discipleship

  • Leadership formation

  • Service

  • Culture of vocation

Discipleship Pathway

Encounter

Creating welcoming spaces where young people experience God’s closeness and belonging.

Accompaniment

Building authentic relationships and walking together with young people as they ask difficult questions and face challenging circumstances.

Formation

Guiding youth and young adults to grow in prayer, Scripture, Franciscan identity and Christian life.

Mission

Sending forth youth and young adults into the world to live their faith through service, leadership, and daily witness.
