Nov. 13 is the launch of Youth and Young Adult’s Discipleship Pathway

We are excited to announce that Module 1: Encounter, the first module of the Franciscan Discipleship Pathway, is now available for parishes, schools, fraternities and ministries participating as pilot sites as well as all those who are seeking to co-create a Franciscan model for ministry with youth and young adults.

The Discipleship Pathway (encounter, accompaniment, formation and mission) was developed through listening, prayer, pastoral research and collaboration with ministers, friars, families, youth and young adults. Its purpose is to help create an intentional culture of discipleship that moves beyond programs and events toward a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.

Encounter begins with a simple but profound truth: God comes close first. Before young people are asked to serve, lead, decide or change, they are invited to recognize that they are seen, known and loved by God. Through Scripture, Franciscan stories, reflection, discussion and practical discipleship steps, participants are guided through four sessions:

• God Comes Close – Recognizing God's invitation and presence in our lives.

• Becoming Rooted – Receiving our identity from Christ and developing practices that sustain faith.

• Walk in His Way – Responding to Christ's invitation through concrete steps of discipleship.

• A Story to Share – Discovering how our encounter with Christ naturally flows into witness and mission.

To launch this phase of our Discipleship Pathway, ministry leaders are invited to a virtual orientation and conversation to explore the module, share best practices, and foster collaboration among participating ministries.
